My buddy Bob from back home has a Macbook Pro.  He needs it for his major (not to give away his life story, but he's an artist of sorts) and it naturally comes standard with Garage Band.  This is a pretty sick program, that I want to pay homage to while my roommate is gone and I have nothing to do...

My brother wants the family to buy a Mac for one reason: Garage Band.  Why?  He's also a guitarist and a lyricist and the front of a band and I could go on and on...  This program allows you to build slash record lots of unique multi-layered tracks for his band, solo album, or anything.

After taking up the piano independently, Bobby taught himself to play a wide variety of mellow self-written tunes.  Now he is in college, and with Garage Band, recording possible future songs and emailing them to me, asking me to write lyrics for it so he can really polish this one for his album.  Whether this program is used for a band, for fun, or for your profession, it uses music to really bring out the possibilities!

As a side not, I find it terribly ironic that Bob asks me now to write poetry for his lyrics, when for so long he laughed at my poetry being used for gifts to my various girlfriends over the years.  Well Bob, listen up:

Merry Christmas.  I'll write your lyrics.

P.S. Thanks Garage Band for letting me see his artistic vision form several hundred miles away.

I know that the iPhone is the greatest gadget to appear in society for a long time, but I can't justify owning one.  Here's why.

The price of the iPhone is misleading.  It's more than just a few hundred bucks (8GB for $399 today), because that doesn't cover services.  Just listen to the logic of it.  You drop $399, you get the toy of the century: your iPod, phone, and internet in one place.  The problems?  You have to pay for phone services, AND internet services - by month.  not to mention my 30 GB iPod, which I use a lot of, becomes a worthless $260 hunk-a-junk.  And my phone- which I'm contracted to-doesn't stop service.  And for what?  So I can't get lost trying to find a pizza place?  Check Facebook at the boring part of a movie in theaters?  Its spectacular, no one is doubting that, but I believe it is questionable that the price is justified in a poor college kid's budget...

Sorry, Apple!  You already sold me on an iPod, and I plan to get a little more use from it before I upgrade.  I will get back to you when my evil phone service expires or is extinguished (mwahaha)!

I have been written up for all the work I did on my last school project - making a dance party in SL - by the good folks at ist.psu.edu.  Check the read link...

Definitely thought the blog should be the first thing you see, not a stagnant homepage.

Anyways, I wanted to comment on one of my favorite computer hardware companies, Logitech.  This company makes a myriad of wireless products, such as the keyboard and mouse I am currently using, for a great price.

A lot of people voice concerns of wireless technology and its reliability.  This is simply not the case.  My first Logitech device was my wireless XBox controllers.   They ran on 2 AA batteries, had great battery life, and the design of the controller (to fit your hand) was sooo much better than even the small ones done by Microsoft.  As mentioned, the keyboard and mouse set only puts you out $30 at Newegg.com and they run on AAA and AA respectively.  I also bought a great deal at a Walmart: their speakers.  I got 5 surround sound speakers and a Sub-woofer

To all those that don't empty your email's trash folder, I understand.  What if 6 months from now you need something that you deleted from your inbox a year ago? Don't laugh, readers, it happens.

I was going to my Math Final on Monday and was shocked when the website that told me where to go to take it was down for servicing.  I panicked. I don't have anyone in the class that I speak with regularly.  Mainly, this is because the class takes place at 9 am.  I mean, come on: do you open your mouth before 9 if you can avoid it?  So in utter desperation, I remember that in the beginning of the year the teacher had mentioned that he had a website that mirrored the University-run url.   But where was that link?  I emailed it to myself on a Tuesday - last August!

So what if your email service provider tells you your trash is over 10MB and needs to be deleted.  Who cares if your girlfriend (if you're lucky enough to have one) thinks you're crazy!  I made it to my exam on time, proof that there is a kernel of wisdom in the mundane practice...

Hey all - two things to post.  By now if you haven't seen this trailer for  Dark Knight, you're in for a treat.  This is the sequel to Batman Begins, the only movie about Bruce Wayne that wasn't horribly done...  And to me it looks like a must see.  What do you think?

Also, to all the coder's out there: looking for an editor that handles all of your languages, but also has basic formatting tools?  I highly recommend Notepad++. It is an open source editing tool not unlike its counterpart, Notepad for Windows.  It supports over 80+ programming languages, supports full drag and drop functionality, auto-completion, and many other useful features.  I have been using it for about a year now and have not been disappointed. Go download it today!

As far as I can tell, this viral video is a facial interpretation of a popular "get pumped" song.  The question is, does this truely classify him as a techno-geek?  I think not.  This just makes him an "artistic visionary".

What do you think would have made him a techno-geek?  Maybe being dressed in a robot costume and saying"oh" to an iPhone, but that would be copyright enfringement on Microsoft so I guess this makes sense... (snicker, sorry Bill).

Now this is a techno-geek head on over to her blog stat and read up on all the things you with you knew!  For all those more experienced techno-geeks, I highly recommend if you are interested in coding that you head to this blog I was visiting today.  Technogeek.org is a fantasitic blog that posts regularly on subjects such as Python, PHP, and coding in general.  On top of that, the man that runs it is also a great guy.

Techno-geeks across the world unite!  There is truly strength in numbers..

We are less than 10 days from Christmas..  Where does the time fly?  I don't really know what I want for Christmas, and that kind of bothers me.

I have always have some geeky thing I wanted, but since being at college I seem to have everything I could possibly want.. In that way I'm lucky.  But I still need to tell my parents something.

I was definitely thinking about Mass Effect for Christmas, but other than that I'm kinda at a loss.  I have a sick computer, a XBox 360, and all the music I currently want.  Can you ask for snacks for Christmas?  Anyways, If you have your shopping done, what are a few things that might entertain your techno-geek this Holiday Season?  Hit up the comments..

Look, I know that everyone who has ever had a Mac thinks its the greatest thing since sliced bread, but PC's aren't the evil scum of the computerized earth!

I have a PC.  Windows XP.  Yes, I need virus software.  But that's the end of it.  If used correctly, you will never have a problem.  I have had to deal with a computer infected with viruses for 10 years of my life, and it was never because the computer was weak...

People are idiots.  Every Techno-geek knows it.  And idiotic people do stupid things - like tell the virus software not to scan, when it tells you that if you don't scan you are in grave danger!  The most dangerous thing the software has ever done was put an "ignore" button on the interface.  It allows people who are lazy to skip their trip to the doctor.  What happens when you don't go to the doctor?  You get sick...

People say the Mac is clean and intuitive.  I think it's really complicated.  I chalk this to whichever one you used first.  I'm big on keyboard shortcuts, so I have problems with the Mac because I don't want to maneuver with just that mouse.  And its a one button mouse? I thought the two button system was more intuitive than a shift click personally.

The coolest thing everyone says about Mac is that sliding tool bar across the bottom.  Well, boys and girls, thats old news!  Check out Rocket Dock...

I have been using this dock, similar to that of the Mac interface, on my Windows XP and Vista OS's, and it has cleaned up my desktop quite a bit.  It is very customizable in look and feel, and you can minimize items to it as well.  You can have it set to appear when your mouse goes over it, allowing you as much of your screen as humanly possible.  I have shared this with several friends and have heard nothing but posative feedback.  It's just over 6MB, so what could it hurt (  I promise, It's not a virus)?  Don't feel like you're settling for an obsolete OS.  Just start looking at the pluses in your package!

Second edition of the Gamer's Corner is up.  Looks like we got some Mass Effect, Starcraft, Wallpaper backgrounds, and a Spoof on Magic: The Gathering.  hit up the comments if you like what you see...

Also, note that if you want to view archive's of the old Corners, that the Archive is conveniently under the archives for this blog.  I know, so simple... Enjoy!
